To complete the line of Maksutov Newtonians, INTES MICRO introduced now the MN76-180F/6 model. The MN76 is an well asked scope, therefore it can be produced in a little bit larger quantity than its big brother MN86, which allows the manufactors to keep the price lower. The MN76 has all the same basic futures as the MN86, except the focuser, which is in the MN76 a 2" Lowprofil-focuser with slighttube.
The 92% coated primary mirror (Pyrex) have an black ring on its center which allows easy collimating using an Chesire Collimator or Laser collimator with the push pull screws at the primary mirror cell. The newstyled secondary holders are already perfectly aligned and fixed. The tested performance under real sky show the similar image to highest quality 6" Apochromats on Moon and planets and slightly more details on Deep Sky objects. A dramatic improvement compared to commercial made reflectors are the knife edge baffle-system in opposite places of the focuser to prevent the eyepiece from really any possible straylight. The other tubebaffles are disconnected from the inside tube wall, to allow the warm air during cooling to move along the wall and not in optical surface area. Due this new optimized system, the internal tubeturbulences are kept close to zero even during cool down time.
The optical system is guaranted to be fully diffraction limited and pass the 96% strehlratio limit. The typical wavefront lays around 1/7~1/8 P-V. As an expensive option the MN76 can be ordered with 1/10 wave Quarzmirrors, 96% reflectioncoated. The Meniscuscorrector (russian BK7) comes with an new broad-band-multicoating with less than 1% reflection.
